What are the release plans for Devil Worlds?
First we’ll release the Beta of Single Player Challenge Block 1. During the public test we’ll update the Multiplayer maps of Classic Worlds. Once we wiped out the bugs of Single Player Challenge by your feedbacks and corrected the Multiplayer maps we’ll release the final Block 1 with 8 Single Player and 16 Multiplayer maps. Then we do the same procedure for Block 2 and Grass Worlds and all the future blocks. Once we released block 5 we’ll make the Final Battle. This map will be tested within the Beta period of block 5.

What happened to Cold Worlds?
We have merged it into the Dirt Worlds. Each mappack but Classic Worlds has 12 maps of the mappack style and 4 “bonus map” with a different. Swamp Worlds contains the asteroids. Desert Worlds is not planned yet, we will make them from the Single Player maps.

How many maps will Devil Worlds contain?
49 Single Player maps and 80+ Bonus Multiplayer maps.

Where did the name come from?
Back in 2004 when we joined to the community of Populous we were the Devil Team and our first ever mappack that was released in February 2004 was Devil Worlds.

Where did idea from this project come from?
We have 6 years Populous modding experience. In 2005 we have made sequel to the Devil Worlds mappack called Grass Worlds, Cold Worlds and Dirt Worlds. In 2008 we decided to entirely remake the mappack series. Between these dates many people tried to make mappacks but nobody could produce maps of such quality we can. We decided to make 5 mappacks of quality maps to inspire people to put effort into their maps and not just set the brush size to max, play around with the mouse, place shamans and few trees randomly and that’s it.

Where is the 5th mappack?
We have dropped Numeric Wolrds because it didn’t fit into the storyline (we may release some maps from it in the future). Desert Worlds will be the 5th Devil Worlds and will be designed in paralell of Block 5.

Why is there a seperate launcher?
We’ll have 49 Single Player and 80+Bonus Multiplayer levels. Normally this doesn’t fit into Populous so we have to extend it in some way. If you look at the Levels folder there’s lots of unused space between the level numbers. With special memory hacks we’ve got Populous to read those spaces too so we can load 256 levels, this is the maximum fits into the “level name” memory space of Populous. The launcher does the miracle and loads the levels into Populous (not really, it’s done by a seperate executable called memedit that appears after the launcher installed the mappack but it have to be started at the correct time, if it’s started too early the game will crash, if it’s started too late the game won’t notice the new levels). Also the launcher can save you lots of clicks when an update is available (there will be lots of them in the development period). You simply click the update button and the launcher will ensure that you have the latest version of Devil Worlds. Easy, isn’t it?
